Plug in - DjVU viewer

This plug in is used on a genealogical site I use, called 1837online.com. It uses this viewer to load snaps of birth registers etc. Why it doesn't use Acrobat......Anyway, the site offers downloads for Windows obviously, Apple but not Linux. However, it does offer a download for Unix. If Linux is based on Unix, is there any way of using the Unix download?
