i've download everything to ugrade KDE3 to the latest for SuSE 8. now how do i get started? do i just start executing all the RPMs from arts-1.1-50 to quanta-3.1-61? i've tried it this way but i don't seem to see any changes after i rebooted. i'm will to start from scratch if some can give me a step by step on the installation plocess.
put them all in one directory, and as root cd /to that directory, and type rpm -Uvh *.rpm. you may have to install a few packages off the suse disc's to satisfy dependancies, but eventually they will install.

thanks for your input. i've installed most of the dependencies from the suse discs except 'c++_compiler'. i tried to run an rpm find on this but came up blank. any suggestions?
it worked like you said! all i had to do was install KDevelop 2.1. thanks for the directions rshaw! one more question though. when i log out, it doesn't go into the X login. it just goes into a black screen so i can log in as another user.
my question is, how do re-enable the X log-in screen?
