DrOzz 02-16-2004 07:53 PM

well since i personally think that mplayer and xine are two of the best (and so do many others) why don't you tell us your problem with xine ...
and what are you trying to say about mplayer ?
it didn't make sense ... did you try it, does it work, whats wrong with it ?

sanjaya 02-16-2004 08:06 PM

i tried to install this file "mplayer-common-1.0pre3-1.i386.rpm" using
rpm -i mplayer-common-1.0pre3-1.i386.rpm command but it doesnt work pls tell me why

DrOzz 02-16-2004 08:31 PM

well i am not a psychic so no i can't tell you why ..
you have to at least tell me why it didn't work ....
for starters, what is the error your getting ?

sanjaya 02-16-2004 08:36 PM

pls let me know a link where i can get a good version / file of this software
do i have to down load 2 -3 files and run to enable the xine player

DrOzz 02-16-2004 09:20 PM

d00d, backup a bit here ..
tell us the errors your getting with xine ...
and there is no need to go re-download everything if you already have it ..
and you can go here for xine, and no xinehq.de is not down, it is working fine ...

just tell us what you did so far when trying to istall it, what errors you get when you try to run it,etc ...
don't make this hard on yourself, just provide us with the info we need, and it'll be alot easier to resolve your problem ...

there are three files xine - lib , gxine , xine - ui what is the file that i need to run xine and play movies ???

megaspaz 02-16-2004 10:25 PM

jeezus! as i and other people told you on your previous posts on this same subject, install libdvdcss to play dvds, and the win32codecs to play other media formats.

http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/

that's for the win32 codecs. even though the site says rh7 and rh8, they should work just fine for rh9

here's for libdvdcss

http://shrike.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=1358

these are rpms, so all you have to do to install them is to click on them.

the only packages you need from xine's website are the xine-lib and xine-ui. and i told you how to build an rpm out of tarballs and how to install rpms before on your previous post. to run xine after installing both of those is just running the command "xine" with no quotes.
