Please help.... PHP and SOAP!!

Hi guyz,
I have a problem, I'm trying to install SOAP on a server that has php 4.3.1 and the OS is RedHat 7.2. I've been reading that you just need to recompile php with the --enable-soap option but does 4.3.1 have that? can anyone post directions on how to install SOAP on my server?

also, if i were just to add SOAP to my server that had PHP 5, do i just add the --enable-soap and --with-libxml-dir=DIR to the following:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/php --with-curl=/usr/local/curl --with-openssl --disable-libxml --disable-simplexml --disable-xml --disable-xmlreader --disa
ble-xmlwriter --disable-dom --without-pear --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql --with-pfpro=shared,/usr/local --enable-soap --with-libxml-dir=DIR

Like such? Is there any downtime to websites? Is there further configurations that I need to do? Please help anyone. Thannks again

The built-in SOAP libraries are I think only available for PHP 5, so no I don't think you can use them with a PHP 4 installation. I think that to compile PHP5 with SOAP support then adding --enable-soap is all you need to do (you'll generally only need --with-libxml-dir if you've installed libxml to a non-standard location).

Alternatively, there is a SOAP library available in PEAR (http://pear.php.net/package/SOAP/download), with is compatible (according to the documentation) with PHP 4.3.
