Please help! KDE is not working in Mandrake 9.1

I just downloaded and installed Mandrake 9.1. Everything went fine on reboot intil X began loading the display manager. Then the login window began flashing rapidly and it kept trying to restart until finally it just sent me to a text login. I tryied running startx and a similar thing happened. So I tried running GDM and it worked. I logged in and started kde, but then kde kept restarting and flashing just like the MDKKDM display manager had been doing. So I killed X and ran GDM again, and this time I logged into GNOME, which works perfectly. Thinking that there was something wrong with MDKKDM, I used the MDK control center to change the diplay manager to KDM. I restarted and the same thing happened before. So I logged into GNOME and looked at some system log files. Here's what syslog says:

Apr 26 12:24:59 chrisrl mdkkdm[1191]: Greeter exited unexpectedly
Apr 26 12:24:59 chrisrl mdkkdm[1191]: Abnormal helper termination, code 0, signal 11
Apr 26 12:25:02 chrisrl httpd: httpd2 startup succeeded
Apr 26 12:25:06 chrisrl mdkkdm[1501]: Greeter exited unexpectedly
Apr 26 12:25:06 chrisrl mdkkdm[1501]: Abnormal helper termination, code 0, signal 11

And here is what happened when I switched to KDM:

Apr 26 12:46:00 chrisrl kdm[1695]: Greeter exited unexpectedly
Apr 26 12:46:00 chrisrl kdm[1695]: Abnormal helper termination, code 0, signal 11
Apr 26 12:46:06 chrisrl kdm[1772]: Greeter exited unexpectedly
Apr 26 12:46:06 chrisrl kdm[1772]: Abnormal helper termination, code 0, signal 11
Apr 26 12:46:06 chrisrl kdm[1048]: Display :0 is being disabled (restarting too fast)

Here's what the KDM.LOG file says:

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display ":0.0".

And here is what the MDKKDM.LOG file says:

Apr 26 12:24:41 mdkkdm_config[1087] error: Unrecognized section name [Desktop0] at /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc:1
Apr 26 12:24:41 mdkkdm_config[1087] error: Invalid option value 'All' at /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc:68
...
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display ":0.0".
QLayout "unnamed" added to KPasswdPage "unnamed", which already has a layout

I'm not real good at interpreting these log files, so could someone help me figure out what it going on here? I would really like to be able to use KDE! Thanks.

GLX and RENDER refer to your graphics card driver I think.

I guess the kdm startup script (kdmrc) seems to be broken.
Try to find a backup copy or whatever.

(Maybe using a kdmrc from a differtent version ?)

What sort of video card do you have and are there any errors in /var/log/XFree86.0.log after kdm fails?

I have an S3 Trio3D. It doesn't appear that I have an XFree86.0.log file in the /var/log directory!? It appears that X supports my video card, since GNOME runs fine. It seems like there is something funny going on with KDE.
