Playing online radio in Suse Linxu
I am running Suse linux 9.0. I would like to be able to listen to my favorite online radio station but I am having problems figuring out how to make that happen. Currently, I have XMMS but when I try to play the URL, nothing happens. The radio website says that Windows Media Player is required to listen online. When I enter the following URL I get the error " could not connect to host www.streamaudio.com server reported bad request: 400" The URL is http://www.streamaudio.com/stations/...eadertext=99.5 The Wolf&Station=KPLX_FM
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to work? Thanks! |
I tried browsing streamaudio.com in firefox, mozilla, and opera (while on Suse 9.2) and none worked very well.
I suspect they are setup for Windows and IE. You could send them an email and complain. |
The homepage for this station claims you have to disable popup blocking on you browser. I was able to get the stream in firefox after doing this. The connect was slow and the sound was lousy. All and all a PITA.
Public radio in Canada (CBC) recently added an OGG Vorbis stream. I sent a thankyou note. These guys deserve a different kind of note. |
