Question Playing MPEG's with RH7.3

In Gnomes I use the default player, when the video begins playing, it's fine, sound and video play perfect. After a few seconds the audio begins to pop and chirp. Ideas?

Use a decent player

www.mplayerhq.hu

Actually really I would see if there is an option to "cache" the file first or something similar to that. You wouldn't get immediate playback, but when it finally got all cached, you'd get better playback. Do you have a decent system? If you are running a P133 with 32MB RAM well then I have a good idea of why this might be happening... But if you are running a P4 2.8Ghz, 4GB RAM, and scsi's all around, then I would give another player a try.

Cool

abit and creative?

i know that abit motherboards with certain via chipsets have problems with soundblaster cards. A lot of static somtimes comes through.

Is the player the only place it does it in, or does it do the same thing elsewhere also?

My system stats?? Hahahahaha!!!!!

1.2 Ghz AMD Duron
256 Mb DDR PC2700
VooDoo 3500 Video w/ 16Mb RAM

That enough computer to handle it?

Although I was thinking it was the player, just wanted to make sure before I go through the trouble of trying to get another player working...

Thanks!

That's so weak! he he he, just kidding, really. Yeah, that should be decent enough to play it, I'd really give mplayer a shot if I were you. Don't be afraid of the command line, it's worth it.

Cool

Ok, I just downloaded and installed MPlayer. Oh. My. God. I advise EVERYONE that uses Linux to download and install this player. Thanks MasterC, this ROCKS!!!

(PS - for some odd reason this is the only program that runs in Linux that DOESN'T pop and crack when it does something! It's Great!!! )
