Playing DVDs

I cannot play encrypted DVDs on my system for some strange reason.

Un-encrypted DVDs work fine, in MPlayer :)

When i insert crypted DVDs into MPlayer and press load DVD the program flashes black, and returns to the Mplayer logo.
If i go to "Titles" and manual select a title, it sometimes works - this is annoying.

Using Totem i get the below error:
Code:

The source seems encrypted, and can't be read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?
I do have libdvdcss2 installed , i have also tried removing that and using libdvdcss 1.2.8

Xine give me the error:
Code:

You DVD is probably crypted. According to your country laws, you can or can;t install/use libdvdcss to be able to read this disc, which you bought (Media stream scrambled/encypted)
I live in the UK, it is perfectly legal to play this DVD on my PC.
And the typo "you're DVD > you DVD" is in the actual error, lol.

The closest i have came is with Ogle.
I hear the film running, but the screen is black. :/

System:
Mandrake Linux 9.2
Dual Processors (1.2), AMD Athlon MP 2.4Ghz
1gb (1024mb) DDR RAM
80gb SCSI
160bg IDE
CD R/W /dev/cdrom
DVD+-R/W /dev/scd1 (ln -s to /dev/dvd)

I'd very very strongly recommend just getting the REAL mplayer source from mplayerhq.hu and compiling it. it will install all the dvdcss stuff without any extra deps at all. it's lovely.

I tried installing mplayer from scratch, but ended up in 'dependancey hell' when it came to installing mplayer-gui.

Anyone out there know how to solve the Ogle problem? Please :D
