Playing .dat file

Hi,
I am new to Linux... I dont know how to play a movie (.dat file). I am using the Redhat 8 (KDE).

I had installed the mplayer by using the

./configure -enable-gui
make
make install

but it gave so much of errors....I had copied the extracted source file in /tmp/test/MPlayer v1.0pre7/

when I tried to run the following command

mplayer /mnt/win98/hda7/movie/disc1/<filname.dat>

it saying some fb0 device not found... I dont where its and how to get it...

Please suggest me how to fix the same

Thanks

Alright, press Alt+F2 and type gmplayer It should open up the player, if you installed correctly. BTW, you also need to install some font along with a skin for mplayer.

To enable the full screen for gmplayer, use the command

gmplayer -zoom <filename>

You can use the f button to toggle between the full screen and the normal mode...

cheers,
Jared
