Mounting the ISO really isn't the problem here -

I tried just doing a "mplayer file.iso", which did bring up the movie but it jumped randomly and the menu never showed up and the sound disappeared sometimes. I know the ISO works in Windows.
If you want to navigate the dvd menus use xine, AFAICT mplayer doesn't support dvd menu navigation.

OK, since I have only played a DVD once before and can't remember if I even get a menu maybe you are right. I will check into all other suggestions and report back how things work out (even if they don't).

I know this is an old thread, but since this is where I ended up while searching for this solution, I thought I should mention this:

xine (xine-ui in some package management systems) can load iso files directly and also supports the menus... Use the following command
Code:
xine dvd://PATH
If your movie is stored in /dvd-images use xine dvd:///dvd-images/movie.iso Please note the 3 "/" characters, 2 for dvd:// and 1 as part of the path to the movie.

Otherwise the command nelz gave about 9 posts back should work. if you don't want the main movie, just use dvd://2 or dvd://3 for the other films.
