Plack,rpms with different distros


1-I have Plack and i cant get it to work with xwindows, it boot from the cd and everything but all it does is go to the command shell and i dont know how to put to use xwindows??
2- I have Fedora core 2 and Im thinking about changing distro, is there anyway that i can use the rpms with another distro??

Using rpms on a different distribution, or even a different version of the same distribution, is a mixed bag. They sometimes work and sometimes don't. The main compatibility problem is that rpms must be compiled against the same version of glibc as you use. Another common compatibility problem is that different distributions store programs and libraries in different locations, although some distributions make allowances for foriegn distributions file trees. If you can't get a foriegn rpm to work on your distribution then the best thing to do is to find a source tarball and compile the package from source.
