I guess I made the right choice in not continuing to beat that dead horse. Nice to see there's still some interest in making an already manufactured product work in an OS that works. FWIW, I went with a leadtek card I got off of craigslist for $35. It works pretty well for analog conversion. But it's a bit quirky about getting and maintaining the framerate associated with my input source. Some of which might be running near my desktops CPU limits with the editing being done. It does work with a little effort. But it's no joy ride, and there's a latency of about 1/5th of second between audio and video.
If you really want to archive your analog sources in digital formats you might be better served going with a PVR / DVR stand alone (OS independent) device. And just copy the resulting digital media to your machine after it's worked it's magic. I've got a VCR that costs $400 with HiFi (stereo audio) abilities so I wanted to (and still want to) achieve maximum results. From what I remember of the analog abilities of that device, it was pretty hideous. While it would be nice to see it function (and lots of other legacy hardware / it's that or the landfill), it's probably not worth four weeks of someones life. Just my opinion.
