Pidentd problems

I have RedHat 7.3 with 2.4.18-4 kernel (i686 architecture).

I have the Pidentd rpm packet "pidentd-3.0.14-5" and it installed just fine. When I try to start it with command "identd" it says nothing and does not start. When I use command "identd-d" debug it says this:
[Pidentd, version 3.0.14 (compiled for Linux 2.4.9-21smp) - Feb 27 2002 14:12:46]
identd: encryption could not be initialized: No such file or directory

What do I have to configure / do - to try to solve this?

I think it starded a process like this:
xx 16553 0.0 0.0 0 0 tty1 Z 18:15 0:00 [netstat <defunct>]
That process disappeared tough...

I have xinetd running I was wondering do I have to add a line for pidentd there or something?

ok, honestly I have no clue what it is for, but I am pretty sure there should be some docs or man pages, do
rpm -qs pidentd
and see where the docs are.
