phpMyAdmin & MySQL

I finally got MySQL running and now I am trying to add a new user with phpMyAdmin (root works). When I add the user I put in the password when I create the user then I go and grant access to a certin database and even give it ALL rights. When I try to enter the username and password I get an access denied error.

Can anyone help?
