PHP/ODBC.so

I am running Mandrake 9.1 with Xampp 1.6.6 installed. I installed UnixODBC and the Mysql connector, i can connect to the MySQL test db using isql -v . In PHP (5.2.5) scripts with myqsl_connect() run fine.
I installed the PHP ODBC extension from php5-odbc-5.0.2-1mdk.i586.rpm, which puts the odbc.so in /usr/lib/php5/extensions/: i put a symbolic link to it in /opt/lampp/lib/php/extensions/non-debug-non-zts-20060613/, where php.ini apparently expects it and put a line extension=odbc.so in php.ini. Still php will not run the odbc_connect()line an any script.("undefined function...")
This is in the php startup error log:

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/opt/lampp/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/odbc.so' - /opt/lampp/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/odbc.so: undefined symbol: empty_string in Unknown on line 0

Any ideas ?

Thank you.

Hi,

My guess is that you're using the odbc extension for a different php5 version. Most likely this package is for php-5.0.2 judging from its name.

Regards

Hi,
Probably right; I looked on the internet for the correct version, but no success. Any suggestions ?
Does the latest Mandriva distro include all this ? Maybe it is time for a new Linux box.
Maybe off-topic, but this runs like a charm on a Windows XP box...
Regards,

Hi,

Searching rpm.pbone.net, I found 2 php5-odbc packages for Mandriva (php-odbc-5.2.5-13mdv2008.1.i586.rpm and php-odbc-5.2.5-14.7mdv2008.1.i586.rpm) that fit your php version.
Hope that one of them should fit with your php installation.
