PHP's imagecreatefromPNG function

I am using the imagecreatefrompng function to spit out a picture, but the colors are coming out wrong..... the php.net page said something about changing the color tables, but gave no example!!!

help! anyone have some sample code for this fix?

PHP version: 4.2.2
GD : 1.6.2
