Photo management software?

Hi,

I'm looking for a robust photo management program for linux. I have a rather large (and growing) image collection and need so help with it. I'd like something along the lines of Idimager (for windows). Tagging etc are a must and the ability to save that data into IPTC info so that it can port to other software at a later date if I choose to. I also need the ability to import photos from a memory card and (preferably) auto rotate based on the EXIF info. This is basic functionality of free win programs like Faststone image viewer so I'm sure it's available in linux.

I'd love your opinions on what your favorites are. Thanks in advance!

Distribution?

f-spot is small and organises photos with tags etc like you want. There are also many applications for creating html hoto-albums and stuff like that.

KPhotoAlbum seems more feature rich.

I think auto-rotate on exif would annoy the hell out of me... whatever, there are hundreds of projects. I'm sure what you want is out there.

I love Digikam and highly recommend it. It's easy to use and organize files. Tags are well supported and version 0.9 or later will write tags and comments direct to the file so they aren't tied to the local database. It's also possible to add GPS coordinates to each picture. All of the usual photo editing is also provided.

I personally like Google's Picasa software quite a bit...

Sorry, distros currently used are debian/ubuntu based with KDE. Mepis 6.5 and beta testing the Linux Mint KDE.

Digikam looks good but I still plan to evaluate F-spot a bit more. I've used Picasa in the winxp environment and though I like it, it's been a bit buggy for me and I'd prefer a program that's a little more robust. But that's just me

Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone else wants to chime in, please feel free.
