perl compile problem/unreal tournament bonus packs

I've found an Unreal Tournament umod installer.
It's written in Perl. I don't know anything about Perl at all.
Having finally found and installed the necessary files to satisfy the file dependencies so that I can run the perl Makefil.PL.
The process is interrupted by the following:

gcc -c -I.. -I/usr/X11R6/include -D_REENTRANT -D_GNU_SOURCE -fno-strict-aliasing -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -I/usr/include/gdbm -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -march=i586 -mcpu=pentiumpro -DVERSION=\"800.022\" -DXS_VERSION=\"800.022\" -fPIC "-I/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/CORE" -Wall -Wno-implicit-int -Wno-comment -Wno-unused -D__USE_FIXED_PROTOTYPES__ Event.c
Event.xs: In function `PerlIO_debug':
Event.xs:498: argument `filePtr' doesn't match prototype
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/CORE/perlio.h:363: prototype declaration
Event.xs:498: number of arguments doesn't match prototype
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/CORE/perlio.h:363: prototype declaration
Event.c: In function `XS_Tk__Event__IO_debug':
Event.c:1245: warning: passing arg 1 of `PerlIO_debug' from incompatible pointer type
make[2]: *** [Event.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/sal/tmp/umod/Tk800.022/Event'
make[1]: *** [subdirs] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/sal/tmp/umod/Tk800.022'
make: *** [subdirs] Error 2

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

my guess is you need to install the Perl/Tk package... I think it's included in the UmodPack file........ Sorry if I'm not of much help but I'm a newbie still...
