pdf writer...?

i need a program with which i can edit a pdf file(s) like job applications because my handwriting is horrible. does anyone know where i could get something like that for cheap or nothing? rpm's for suse would be nice.. but not so important. thanks.

You could try converting the file to PostScript (ps) using pdf2ps.

Then edit the file.

When done, convert it back to pdf using ps2pdf.

I don't really understanf your question properly, but I would be suggesting using your favorite editor to create a PS (postscript) file, and then running ps2pdf on that into make a PDF file if the editor can't generate PDF by itself. Gimp can also open and edit PS files. You can also convert PDF to PS using pdf2ps

i have an aplication from a place i would wish to work which is a pdf file, and i wish to fill it out neatly. is there a way i can edit it? is there a program that will manage that?

acrobat reader 7 allows you to fill out PDF forms and print them.

reader 7 ships with suse, but i cant seem to make it do that. it comes up with the "add text symbol" (like the one in gimp) but then when i click it it says: copy to clip board

In that case it's not a PDF form. Try what was suggested
earlier, pdf2ps, open the resulting ps file with Gimp, fill it
in, save it and convert it back to PDF, or just print it.

KWord can edit and save PDFs. I'm not sure if it fills out "forms," though.

Tinkster gave an explanation of your problem and a probable solution. So I'm not going to give anymore instructions on that.

But let me suggest you OpenOffice. This set of applications let you to save your documents an PDF. It supports most of the common formats including star office, microsoft office, OASIS, etc. So with it you can simply save your word, excel, etc. documents as PDF. As you might already know it is available for both Windows and Linux.
