PCLinuxOS works!!!

I have tried many times over the years to install linux without a lot of F***ing about and this is the first time I have installed a version that works first time. Well almost. It didn't like my USB 2.00 external drive as a place to load but everything else was amazing.

I suggest reading AND following the desktop install help before you try installing the system. Also keep things simple. Like install the OS on the first drive. C: perhaps.

As someone else mentioned. It probably needs modern hardware but I have an old Diamond stealth 2000 card, as I'm too tight to purchase anything newer. My motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X-X and it works properly with that combination.

I am very impressed and may keep a bootable system available all the time.

One thing I was very impressed with was that the supplied firewall worked first time without a lot of messing about. Something that had caused me lots of problems with previous Mandrake/Shorewall setups and is essential before you connect to the internet.

Excellent. Way to go and I may even take the time to read the MANUAL to find out where stuff is.
