PCLinuxOS 2007: will not boot, says the superblock needs rebuilt.
The verbose boot screen runs its checks of the parititions and their filesystems. The result is that I am told that something is wrong with /hda3. The boot screen's message goes something like this: If there is a ReiserFS filsystem in the partition then the superblock is corrupt. Rebuild the superblock with --rebuild-sb command. I googled for that command and I also tried with my limited knowledge to run the command.
Evidently, I don't understand how to execute that command at all. I tried it several ways. Remember, I can't boot into the OS, so from the screen/shell that I am dumped to, I am supposed to rebuild the superblock. I think this happened because I deleted some partitions that were mounted by PCLOS (other distros). But, I have used a liveCD to modify the PCLOS fstab to have pretty much nothing on it but windows partition and the PCLOS partitions. I even removed the swap file from fstab (was that bad?)
I hope someone can help. This is a very customized installation and I would hate to reinstall.
B.
Thanks,
B
