Passwords failing

I've been having this weird issue with xScreensaver not accepting my user passwords to unlock, and now Entrance is doing the same thing...Entrance recognizes the user (as does XScreensaver) but when I type the password (which I'm positive is correct, no Caps Lock or anything) it says the password is wrong...

Anybody know why this happens or how to fix it?

Thanks all

Hard to say, maybe they're trying to verify against
some PAM mechanism rather than /etc/passwd (shadow)?

Have a look at /var/log to see whether there's
any indication of what might be going on...

Cheers,
