password MS excel / openoffice

Someone sent me a excel file in one e-mail and a password in another. My problem is Open Office does promt for the password. I just get an error saying this file is password protected.
Is there a way to get this file open? Or do I need to ask them to send the file un-Bill Gated?
Thanks dad

No it didn't. That will work if I create another file from Openoffice. If I either click on the file or open Openoffice and then try to open the file it pops up the error message about its password protected. It acts like Openoffice doesn't recognize Billy Gates software.
