Partitioning software for Linux

So I have accidentally put Windows XP onto a logical partition, and whenever I try to boot it via Grub, the Windows XP startup sequence displays, but after that I get an error saying "autochk program not found" then the computer reboots itself. I'm assuming that this is because Windows is on a logical partition, and as I have heard this can cause problems.
Would I be able to fix this by getting partitioning software for Linux (RH9) and switching it back to the primary partition? If so, could someone please point me in the direction of a piece of software that could do this, if not, does anyone know what the problem when booting Windows is?

Thank you

Just about any OS won't like booting from a logical partition.

You could just simply use fdisk or cfdisk from a linux live install CD to repartition.

Thank you
Do you know how I could use fdisk or sfdisk to change it back to a primary partition? I can't work out how to... (not cfdisk - I get a command not found error when I try to use that)

I believe that you will have to wipe out that logical partition, create a new partition, make that new partition the primary, and start over. I could be wrong, but I think you're stuck.

Well, Partition Magic on Windows managed to change a logical partition to a primary, but if there's no such method for Linux, I'd be able to copy all the data from the logical partition onto a new primary, right? If anyone could get me an article I'd really appreciate it. If not, I'll work it out myself
