Partitioning HDD with out Remove Linux Box


I would like to know how can I partition my disk to install Slackware 9.0 with out remove my Redhat 8.0 this is the information:

/dev/hda2 28G 9.2G 17G 35% /
/dev/hda1 99M 29M 65M 31% /boot
none 93M 0 93M 0% /dev/shm

First you will need to shrink the file system, if possible; how you do this depends on what file system you are running. If it were reiserfs, the command would be resize_reiserfs. Shrink the partition to the desired size. Then use 'parted' or similar partition resizing tool to shrink the current partition and create a new one afterwards.

Hi again

I found "GNU ext2resize" maybe works me what do you think? but in order to do it without the kernel patch that is nessesary I will need to boot from the rescue CD, and tell it to skip mounting the filesystem but how can I do that? and please can you tell me step by step the instructions because I'm newbie
