Should by usable immediately after install.
May be try to reinstall :
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install panflute-applet

In the panel it appears as a very small icon : Here it shows "Launch Rhytmbox"

Hi!
Most times, when I had a problem with the panel, I run
Code:
killall gnome-panel
and it worked again, possibly after rebooting.
Maybe you get an error message

...problem...applet - delete?...

Edit:
Not all applets are automatically shown by "add to panel" after installation! That's a fact, and I suppose yours is one of those.
