paintshop pro linux

Hi!

Does anyone know of a good paint shop programme for linux? I'm in the process of making a professional website and need to make graphics.

I'm happy to buy a commercial product. However, I don't think Paint Shop Pro is commercially availabel for linux.

Can anyone recommend (a) a commercial product, and (b) an Open Source solution.

Thanks
Hamish

Gimp would be the most obvious one to me. Paintshop pro, if you have it may run on wine. I got it to open up and use various functions but it was a bit buggy, maybe if you play around with wine a bit more you can sort it all out properly.

Gimp 2.0 is superb. I did the graphics for my site in it (though I recerntly replaced some and now I don't like them!)

Sure, the gimp.

I wondered about wine.

mmm, adobe photoshop isn't sold for linux either.

(PS = Adobe Photoshop)

Wine+PS apparently can work, bit of fiddling and praying ;) - the GIMP is alright, at least for a complete novice like me.

However, a few of my friends who are PS addicts can't stand GIMP, personally I think it's because they didn't give it a chance, they complained about the interface.

Give it a twirl and try getting PS to work under Wine :)

The best one is Gimp

But there's a version in linux of Adobe Photoshop 7 (you don't need to use wine)
