Package manager problems
I have been experiencing this a lot lately:
Whenever I try to install a new RPM with rpmdrake or the RedHat Package Manager (the GUIs), they get as far as "checking dependencies" and then stall. If I urpmi from a term, I get something like this: read depslist file [/var/lib/urpmi/depslist.ordered] read provides file [/var/lib/urpmi/provides] relocated 3001 entries in depslist ...whereupon the process stops and I have to do ctrl-c to kill it. This isn't just happening with one package, and it doesn't seem to be dependent on what directory I am working in. What could be the cause of these failures? Thanks! |
Try running RPMDrake from the command (i.e. open a konsole session and run the command) and see what errors are thrown up on the konsole screen.

When I run rpmdrake from term, it says:
Release found:8.1 and the app builds half the screen then freezes. I have to kill it from the panel and ctrl-c the terminal session. If I run urpmi from the term, it produces this output: read depslist file [/var/lib/urpmi/depslist.ordered] read provides file [/var/lib/urpmi/provides] relocated 3001 entries in depslist then freezes. I have to ctrl-c the terminal. Any ideas? |
