P2P for RH9
What P2P application works on Red Hat 9?
|
edonkey2000, xmule, kazaa under wine and many others :) Did you make a forum search? ;)
|
when i try to run Kazaa with wine it says some user registery..what that mean?
|
did you set it up properly ?
kazaa lite instructions and here is links to tonnes of p2p apps kazaa really isn't worth running through wine when there are hundreds of p2p clients for linux....if you look through the list of clients you'll even see that some clients connect to the kazaa network, which even shows more so why it is pointless to run kazaa with wine.... |
use mldonkey it is native linux application you can use it without any emulator and you connect to any network(kazaa edonkey napster and other) with it.

I use giftcurs. It's got the fasttrack, openft and gnutella plugins. People get turned off by the ncurses based gui but it's the best one around for gift.
Nakkaya, which gui do you use for mldonkey? I remember I tried installing it once and I didn't much like the default interface. |
Hi nakkaya!!!
I've tried to use mldonkey. I've downloaded the bunzip2 for i386, then I've run ./mlgui The gui starts fine, but at the console, I get an constant error message like this: Exception Write Failed: Connection refused in connecting Does anybody has any idea what this means? The idea of mldonkey is great though, but I'm still about to see it in action :) Thanks in advance |
Try Limewire.. Works great for me.
|
isn't it that p2p (under any os) has the risk of unwanted intrusion in your system?
|
Bah, with the RIAA sniffing everyone's ports, I wouldn't advise using Kazaa to even browse what's available. I would stick with the gnutella network. Try GTK-gnutella, I've had great luck with it.

Well, I'd better watch out them... what is RIAA any link with what it does, how it does and peoples being caught?. Argh, they are taking away our freedom :(
|
giFT with the Apollon client is the best!!

[root@localhost mike]# rpm -qa | grep wine wine-20030813-1rh8winehq Does it mean that wine is installed? Than when I try to run kmd I get the error message: [root@localhost mike]# ./kmd.exe Segmentation fault Any ideas why its happened? thanks |
You have to start kdm.exe using wine, not just via the shell. Yes wine is installed.
