oxine make error
Hello, I am on Fedoro core 2.
In an attempt to install oxine, I get the following message after entering "make". But ./configure does not complain. Can anyone help me. oxine.c: In function `parse_arguments': oxine.c:640: error: `opterr' undeclared (first use in this function) oxine.c:640: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once oxine.c:640: error: for each function it appears in.) oxine.c:642: warning: implicit declaration of function `getopt' oxine.c:657: error: `optarg' undeclared (first use in this function) oxine.c:663: error: `optopt' undeclared (first use in this function) oxine.c:674: error: `optind' undeclared (first use in this function) make[2]: *** [oxine.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/mabuti/downloads/oxine-0.2/src' make[1]: *** [all] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/mabuti/downloads/oxine-0.2/src' make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 [root@localhost oxine-0.2]# |
hi there
i would consider getting and compilning a different version regards |
sounds like you are missing some includes. you need to post the output from a little farther up than where you started. check and make sure you have the glibc-2.x.x-devel package installed.

Well, your undefined errors ( optind, opterr, etc..) are from missing glibc headers - remember rpm distro's split their packages to make compiling from source a pain. make sure you have the glibc-2.x.x-devel package installed.
your errors from autogen could be because of your versions of autoconf, m4, or automake. make sure your versions are at least the minimum required ( most README's or websites of cvs stuff will tell you the minimum's of these). |
I found the optxxxx undefined errors to be related to getopt!
by adding this line to src/oxine.h I solved the undefined issue added line: #include <getopt.h> (works only when development package op getopt is installed i reckon ... ) greetz pereltje ;) |
Another error after adding #include <getopt.h> in oxine.h . What could be the problem now? Do I have 2 install the op getopt development package?

Hi mab_123,
you're doing fine sofar :-) ld can't locate the libXtst.so because it is not told properly where to look for it .... a modification of src/makefile.am ... will do the trick though (well it did for me ...) look for this line in src/makefile.am (probably line 10): oxine_LDADD = @XINE_LIBS@ $(LIRC_LIBS) $(XTEST_LIBS) and change it to this: oxine_LDADD = @XINE_LIBS@ $(LIRC_LIBS) @X_LIBS@ $(XTEST_LIBS) then run the script: autogen.sh in the main directory of the sourcecode after that i expect your regular ./configure --some-arguments && make && make install will run cleanly :) greetz pereltje ;) |
