Question Outgoing mail suddenly halted with qMail and Evolution

I have qMail setup as my Mail Transport Agent and it has worked flawlessly since I installed it a few months ago. I use it to send my mail and to route incoming mail which is downloaded from a mail server by fetchmail. I use Evolution to read and send email. My OS is Red Hat Linux 9.

Today, when I tried to send an email, I received this error message:
<B>Error while performing operation: Could not connect to AJSP350.local (port 25): "Connection reset by peer"</b>

I tried restarting the qmail-send and qmail-smptd daemons but the problem continued. I then restarted the computer since that seems to work so well for healing Windows problems.
I am still having the problem.

Everything worked fine yesterday. I have not made any changes to the setup of qMail or Evolution.

Do you have any ideas on what could be wrong or have some tips on how I may be able to diagnose what is going wrong?

Thank you!

Andy

I have determined that qmail is not the cause of this problem. I sent a test email to an outside account using the mail command and qmail successfully sent the email without any trouble.

Any ideas on why Evolution is unable to send email through qmail?

While I have not figured out the reason why the mail server setting AJSP350.local worked fine for a couple of months and then quit working, I have been able to get Evolution to send mail through qmail again.

I changed the mail server setting in Evolution to localhost.localdomain and now everything works fine.
