Oracle VirtualBox

Hello!

I'm newbie of Linux but i guess this is a better forum where to ask this question.

When i try to install VirtualBox from Oracle

This is the last part of the error (i guess this issue is well-known)

---
Error: Package: VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.20_80170_el6-1.i686 (/VirtualBox-4.1-4.1.20_80170_el6-1.i686)

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

I guess this issue it's because I'm using Red Hat Linux Enterprise 6 instead Rhel Oracle distribution so dependencies are missing and i don't know where to get them.

Any suggestion?

By the way, i created a repository but looks like useless.
This is the /etc/yum.repos.d/Virtualbox.repo
---
[virtualbox]
name=Oracle Linux / RHEL / CentOS-$releasever / $basearch - VirtualBox
baseurl=http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/rpm/el/$releasever/$basearch
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/oracle_vbox.asc
---

Thanks for any help.

To put in a nutshell, i guess that i just should understand how to install dependencies for VirtualBox.

What cmd did you use: rpm ??
If so, don't bother; use yum instead. Its designed to automatically handle dependencies eg as root
Code:

yum install <pkg name>

http://linux.die.net/man/8/yum

BTW, if this is going to develop into a Virtualisation thread, ask the Mods to move it to that forum (use the Report button)

I tend to install the needed lib's by finding them one at a time for odd deals.

chrism01 brings up a good issue. How did you install it exactly?

http://download.virtualbox.org/virtu...el6-1.i686.rpm

The Oracle page suggests to me the rpm ought to be well tested.

made
Code:

yum groupinstall
at last, it's solved
