Oracle /shared partition Windows, Linux RAM

Hi everyone,
I am thinking about to install Oracle Database software, but my hard disk space it`s very limited. I have a dual boot system with Windows XP and Fedora 8 and I created a /shared partition.
Please check my disk usage:
[Kryptos@localhost ~]$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
6.6G 5.5G 849M 87% /
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol01
3.3G 235M 2.9G 8% /home
/dev/sda6 5.0G 75M 5.0G 2% /shared
/dev/sda2 99M 13M 82M 13% /boot
tmpfs 244M 256K 244M 1% /dev/shm
/dev/sr0 2.8G 2.8G 0 100% /media/O meu disco
/dev/sda1 21G 6.4G 14G 32% /media/disk
[Kryptos@localhost ~]$

It would be nice if the Oracle software was available from windows and Linux. Is that possible? Can I install Oracle in the /shared partition?
Will Oracle database work for both operating Systems?

I know i need at least 1GB of RAM, but actually the scenario it`s like this:
[Kryptos@localhost ~]$ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 486 467 18 0 9 112
-/+ buffers/cache: 345 141
Swap: 2000 76 1923

What will happen if I don`t upgrade RAM and ignore the recommendation?
Will Oracle database work?

Thanks in Advance.
