Well if you could do without KDE you'd free a lot of resourses. I'm likely running an identical computer (it's been used in a lot of schools and governent buildings, Dell Optiplex GX110 P3 886MHz, 128mb RAM) and I know that with KDE things run a lot slower then with IceWM, XFCE, FluxBox, and etc. All of these take a bit of extra work if you want to have some pretty common features, though... but you should give them a try.

If you must stick with KDE, get rid of all the effects, get rid of desktop and panel backgrounds, and turn off the KDE sound Daemon. You should notice a difference. :)

thanks for ur tip

i will surely see that

but without kde it will be like i am not giving them the full desktop

for machines with less that 128 MB Ram ,i will try Icewm

hmmmm, I found out that when i install development tools like (devel) packages my machine slowed down considerebly. I guess it's equivalent of loading explorer dll files in windows when ur not using explorer. 128mb simply is not enough, but u can get a nice boost if u remove the the devel packages or install them on machines with more ram.

devel packages?
well i do not have then but ill surely look again into that if i have some.
