opera browser- red hat 7.3 install

i installed red had 7.3, and then downloaded opera 6.03 static rpm. i prefer the rpm download and installing with red hats kpackage utility.i stay away from tar gz. files, not sure why one would want to install this way with the ease of rpm installs.

my question, when i was using kpackage to install opera , when i had a check-mark beside check for dependecies, it would not install opera and gave an error message like something eles was missing. when i unchecked the check for dependencies, it would install opera. can someone tell me what is why i could install opera without the check mark beside check for dependencies, not install when it was checked?

Um because it has depedency issues. Maybe a library isn't installed, or whatever it's telling you. Without forcing or running it with the --no-deps options, it won't install because it will not run correctly all the time without the dependencies satisfied. Although, I just re-read your post, and see that you got the static version, so I don't know what other dependency issues you would have, so I am thinking now that this is why you are posing this question, and not wondering why you can install things by bypassing the deps checks.

Ok, well I would now go back and just not post this, but in the slight off chance that it answers you question, I will anyway.

Cool
