Opera 7.21 and Mandrake 9.2
 

I'm running KDE on Mandrake 9.2 and have installed Opera 7.21. My question is how do I set Opera as my default web browser? Right now Konquerer is, but I prefer Opera because of the mouse gestures. Any help will be appreciated. TIA

if you want to have urls passed correctly through kde to opera, then first you'll need to edit opera's entry in your kmenu by using the menu editor. i don't use mandy, but if i remember correctly opera has an entry in Networks > internet (?). anyway, add this option to opera's command so that the final command looks like:

opera %u

save the change.

now to make opera the default browser, find out where your filetype associations are in the kde control center. expand the text category, find all the html stuff you can (html, shtml, htm, etc) and add opera by browsing through your kmenu. then move the opera entry to the top of the list.
