Hi
I have installed OpenVPN on my IPCop server and it works fine connecting from client side ,question i have though ,is it possible for me to use the IPCop server as my internet gateway for the client pc once vpn is established ? And if possible ,how to configure it.
Thanks in advance

This is in fact possible. You add this line to the server.conf file (or uncomment it in the sample server.conf file): push "redirect-gateway def1"

It's actually in the How-To towards the bottom, where it explains how to make all client traffic go through the VPN. There may be one other command that has to be run, but I don't think it's completely necessary.

I've got a question for you though. Are you doing the routing or the bridging VPN setup? I've gotten everything working in routing mode, but I want to use bridging mode, and I can't seem to get my Linux server to send any traffic to the tap0 interface. I keep getting "Network is unreachable" on my server whenever I try to connect, and Wire Shark can't see any traffic getting to the bridged tap0 interface.

OpenVPN on IPCop

Thanks for reply Marbles ,i actually got it right ,by just entering Default Gateway in OpenVPN GUI inside IPCop ,once vpn on client side is established the VPN`s default gateway path has less cost than the dialup default gateway ,so all internet traffic automatically gets routed through vpn gateway. Not sure what you mean by the bridging mode though ? Are you talking about OpenVPN or IPCop ?

I was talking about OpenVPN, but I figured it out. Bridging mode is explained pretty well here: http://openvpn.net/bridge.html

Basically, bridging mode is a way to put your remote client PC on your home network as if it were sitting right there plugged into your router. You get all of the broadcast messages, which makes things like file sharing a snap. I could even print to my home PC like this, easily. The problem that was having was that the bridge-start script (in the OpenVPN sample-scripts directory) was taking away my server's default gateway, and I just hadn't noticed this. I fixed the problem though. I'm glad to hear that you have faired well as well.
