OpenSuse with KDE: changing the login theme does not work

I have a system which runs on OpenSuse 12.1 with KDE. I tried changing the default Green login theme of it. I went to "System Settings > Login Screen > Themes". There are 5 default themes installed with the OS. I tried selecting a different theme and applying it. But, i did not reflect even after restarting the machine. I am still getting the default Green login theme. I tried several times with different themes, but of no use.
So, how do I change the login theme here? Is it a bug in the release or is it disabled for some reason?

You have to be root to change that, I don't know why. Run:
Quote:

kdesu system-settings

I tried,
Quote:

kdesu systemsettings
Then changed the login screen theme. But even after restart, the theme did not change. I still getting the green login theme.

that has been a issue for some time

but as i recall , you will have to manually rewrite the boot initrd to change it
