OpenSSL Error

I'm getting a bunch of "No such file or directory" errors when I try to run the make command for openssl-0.9.7c and I'm not sure what could be the problem since the files are there. All the files are being referenced using ../include/openssl/<filename>

I've used apt-get to install make, gcc and perl and I'm following this page as a rough guideline...
http://esensualstudios.com/linux.php

Note, I'm in /usr/local/src/openssl-0.9.7c and run ./config then make.

Any ideas why the file referencing it giving me errors?
