OpenOffice won't start after X-server crash!
 

I made a mistake a couple af days ago which crashed the X server and now I can't start OpenOffice, any suggestions of how to get the system going again?

The mistake I made was to mark 7 jpeg pictures and choose open with Gimp. I thought I still had one Gimp open which results in the pictures open under that Gimp. The problem was that there was no Gimp so the computer attempted to open 7 Gimps which I saw as a impossible mission so I clicked the cross in the top right corner on each Gimp start-up window.

After that I noticed the computer turned really slow for at least 2 hours after. When I later needed to do some work at the open OpenOffice calc and writer documents the clock stopped and the system came to a freeze position. It logged me out and wouldn't let me do ANYTHING, not even Ctrl-Alt-Backstep or Ctrl-Alt-Delete so I had to use the power button to force kill the system.

When I rebooted I chose yes to check file configuration (or what it is when you get warned that might lose data). But after logging in to my user it will not let me start any OpenOffice documents directly from the folder, it will not even start the applications neither from the icons at the desktop nor the commands oocalc or oowriter. The output from the latter method is as follows:

So how can I get OpenOffice to work again after the X-server crash?

ps. OpenOffice still works if I log in as another user. ds.

If theres nothing important in ~/.openoffice , try deleting it and opening up openoffice.

I moved the ~/.openoffice folder to the Desktop to be sure to have a backup copy and then tried to start OpenOffice.

Guess what... it worked just fine, except for all the settings (layout and stuff), but the important thing is that it works, thanks a bunch!!!
