Hello,
You could try opening it from a terminal so that you can see the logs. Post them here and see if someone can help you.

If it's working when you run it from the command line, you should be able to enter the same command for your desktop alias/shortcut and have it work.
What did you type into the terminal, and what is the shortcut's command?

Shortcuts missing after installation OO 2.3 on RadHat 8.0
I'm having problem starting OpenOffice 2.3? After installation there are no shortcut icons in RedHad 8.0 menu (Gnome environment)?
How do I start it from terminal?

I found it...
On RedHat 8.0 locations are:
OpenOffice - /opt/openoffice.org2.3/program/soffice
OpenOffice Writer - /opt/openoffice.org2.3/program/swriter
OpenOffice Calc - /opt/openoffice.org2.3/program/scalc
I still do not understand why the shortcuts are not automatically created upon installation?

How did you install it ?
If you installed from the Sun binary rpm files, you have to also go in the desktop integration directory and install the rpm package for your Linux distro.

I simply started setup file and installation process goes on... At one step, I selected components to install: GNOME integration and KDE integration.
I supposed that selecting these options will automatically create shortcut icons. Obviously, I was wrong about that. Am I missing something?
