Openoffice.org 2.0 Font Problems

I will start off with an apology - this may be a dupe. I can't really help it as the search facility is currently down and this problem is bugging the hell out of me..

I'm running SuSE 9.2 with all of the packages updated via apt-get to the current versions. I'm running KDE 3.4.0. Kernel version is 2.6.11, recompiled and configured from source - not a stock SuSE kernel.
I installed OpenOffice.org 2.0 from the RPM's on the OOo website..

My problem is as follows:
When I open OOo (either from shell, desktop link or via a filetype associated with OOo), the fonts fail to render properly. By this I mean it seems that anti-aliasing has failed, the fonts are much narrower (i.e. lines are very thin) and spacing is a bit off.
However the weird thing is that on subsequent runs in that session the fonts render perfectly. If I reboot, the problem reoccurs. It also reoccurs if I close OOo for a while and re-open it.

This doesn't occur with the same version under Windows - Only Linux..
I don't have the problem with any other applications under Linux either - only OOo (and the problem only started with 2.0)..

I am wary of filing a bug report - If I miss something that's already been posted it would probably result in a flaming so I'm hoping some OOo guru here could help me out..

Oh and a quick intro: My name is David and I'm a networking student from Scotland. I've read a load of useful threads here but this is the first time I've had to post myself.

Thanks in advance,
David C. Barker

well as far as I know OOo 2.0 is still beta. You could submit a bug report, or you could wait until 2.0 becomes stable...

Welcome to LQ.

OOo v2 is still a beta version. If you are just testing it, file a bug report over at openoffice.org.

If you are using it for something "mission critical", like typing assignments, I suggest using a stable version, such as 1.1.4. I have lost work using OOo2, because it crashed on me....

I hope this helps

Heh not exactly helpful saying that it's a beta guys..

Sorted anyway, the latest release has a bugfix that's not listed..
