32 bit kde slackware 14.1
Got notice that openoffice 3.2 is installed and it appears on icon and all application options [writer, presentation, data base, spreadsheet, etc.], but when click on writer [or any of them] and screen comes up with "Welcome", as soon as finish the three steps [welcome, user name, registration] and click "finish", all disappears and back to Desktop screen.
Have performed reinstall, but nothing changes.
All leads appreciated [am working on years long book project and mustn't change applications].
Could go back to opensuse, but trying to see if can get slack to work for me.
Thanks Mr. McCann, your info fixed whole problem [for some reason the command line install got hung up on "unmatched [ & ( and etc.", but the gui install app worked perfectly].
Never knew about pkgs.org and that in itself is a great assist [should be some referrals from one repository site to others].
Once again, deepest thanks; you saved slack for me.
