Thumbs up OpenOffice 2.0 RC1

It would seem that on the twenty-fifth of September OpenOffice 2.0 has gone into release candidate mode. If anyone is interested here is a link to get your debs or RPM's:

I'm already running it Haven't had a chance to give it a good test run yet though. Beta 2 was pretty stable for me though, the first time I ditched the 1.1.x line. I downloaded the RC as soon as I saw it was available.

I haven't used 1.1.x since 1.9.x first became available. Why? Because 1.1.x is a steaming pile, harkening to the days of StarOffice 5.x. Kudos to Sun for opening it up and offering a free suite, but StarOffice and OpenOffice 1.x.x were spaghetti code, plain and simple.

Office 1.9.x (aka 2.0) could stand for some code reorganization/cleanup (especially file I/O), but it's far, far better than 1.1.x was, is now usable by ANYONE, and is a real threat to Microsoft's dominance in the marketplace.
