openMosix and mp3

Hi there!

I want to use my openMosix-clustrer for mp3-encoding. In testing it works nice and speeds up the process very good!

But, the id3v2 tagging and so on is taking a lot of time. Is there some software, like grip, that starts encoding for each file, that is finished ripping? Grip encodes as soon as a file is ripped, but it only encodes one file at a time.. and OM won't migrate that...

Can someone help me out with that?

Thanks, Sascha

SMP in grip

hello cornholio,

From memory I think you can specify the number of logical CPUs to use for encoding in grip's configuration. This page seems to verify that (search the page for "CPUs"). Just set this to the total number of CPUs in your cluster and grip should spawn a new encoding thread for each as necessary.

I'm not sure if this answers the question about id3v2 tagging. Hope it helps anyay,

pete.
