Right-click on any text file in Konq, select Edit File Type, go to Embedding tab, and select the Use settings for 'text' group radio button (option).

That is why I use GNOME and Nautilus
Edit: This is just a joke!!

No, really. There are several file managers for Linux, but if you feel like it, you could do so in the konsole (kwrite /path/to/file/<filename>)

What Linux distribution do you use? In Red Hat Linux 9 :

Konqueror -> Right click on text file -> Open with -> option at the bottom -> remember binding for filetype.

Should be the same in RH8 as in RH9 (minor KDE version difference).

From Konqueror ->
Click on a text file with the right mouse button ->
Select "Open with" ->
Select the option at the bottom (I'm using the Dutch version, so I don't know the English name for this option) ->
Select something like 'remember binding for filetype.'
