opening a folder in gnome-mplayer often doesn't work

I have been using gnome-mplayer very often lately, and keep noticing that some tracks appear with "[stream]" before their title, and those are usually or always unplayable. It seems to happen only when I open an entire folder. There's nothing wrong with the files: I can play them if I open them individually. Has anyone else encountered this?

The music I open is usually on other partitions from my system or home folder...but they're mounted.
