OpenGL problems (quake 3, glxgears)

When I run Quake 3, it starts up just fine, but the screen is blank. I can hear sound from the game perfectly fine. When I exit out, there aren't any errors whatsoever. I try running glxgears, and I can't see anything, but I know that it's running because it gives me the FPS it's running at. I just recently installed Diablo II (with the LOD expansion) in winex, and it starts just fine, but I can't see anything. I'm sure this is a pretty simple problem, but I just can't figure it out.

What video card are you using ? A Nvidia one ? maybe you could try downloading its drivers from www.nvidia.com

Oh yeah, letting you guys know what card I'm using would probably help. I have an ATI Radeon 7200.

I've got the same card... just installed Mandrake 9.1 and my video pretty much sucks. Any help is appreciated. I don't know what a 'tarball' is, or how to compile a kernel, or even how to load an application (read: simple instructions for a newb please).

Thanks,
Duke
