openGL


is there anyway i can test program i can run to find out if openGL works ?

glxgears or glxinfo should give some indication.

when i run glxinfo, what i`m i looking for to see if openGL works ?

Not sure, exactly. Direct rendering should be "yes", and there should be a ton of info on your card.

What card/processor do you have and what fps do you get for glxgears (let it run for about 30seconds and watch your fps in the console you ran it from).

edit: also try glxgears -info (gives abbreviated info). Mine starts out as:

on glxgears i get an average of 4200 fps. and when i do an glxinfo i get a tonn off info

If you get 4200 fps then you have hardware accelerated openGL for sure
