open-source or freeware RAR 3.x implementation?

I use usenet and download many posts of small RAR 3.x files. the open source unrar program only allows 2.x decompression, and the RAR binary from the creators only lasts for 40 days. Am I out of luck? I've looked around, but it seems RAR 3.0 was never reverse engineered....anything I can do?

Go to winrar's page, download the console rar utility and use file-roller as the front end, works great here (FC1, 2.6.4, GNOME 2.4)

EDIT: They say in the page that will wear out, but that ain't true, I'm ablet to open and create RAR archives without any problem using that...

Their license agreement says the software will work for 40 days and then I am required to register. Is this false?

If it was completely true... then I should register, since I haven't and been using rar since 6 monts ago....

They say you should register, but they don't make you.
